According to CHP on January 3, 2019 around 2:30 PM Karina Woodman (52) of San Jose, was driving a snowmobile on a groomed track in the
Hermit Valley area of Alpine County with Kevin Woodman (14) of San Jose behind her as a passenger.
Following another snowmobile, she was unable to stop when that driver stopped suddenly and left the trail, overturning the snowmobile.
She was airlifted to Bear Valley Ski Resort and then to Sutter Roseville Hospital with major injuries. The 14-year-old was transported to Sonora Regional with moderate injuries.
It has not been determined that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.
