In Calaveras County it's NO to Horses! Yes to High Fines!

We've had so many calls this week about horses no longer being allowed on Ri zoning in Calaveras County that we tried to contact Todd Barr, with Code Enforcement.  The call went to a machine and we have not received a return call.
Apparently many, and myself included, have had a horse in R1 zoning for as long as most people can remember.  Many have told us that when they called to see if it was all right in R1 they were told by the County that it's fine unless your neighbors complain.
Now we find that people are receiving fines from Todd Barr in the thousands of dollars for having horses on R1.  One we know of in Copper is over $6000.
We know  that the main job of each and every department at the county now is to create some new ways of bringing in revenue. Is that what this is?
Everyone sees at Board meetings that Todd Barr is blocked from fining people who the Supervisor of that District does not want fined.
What a shame what our County has come to in order to rip the public off and try and keep themselves afloat.  Maybe if the Supervisors had considered JOBS important when they voted over and over against them, they wouldn't be so desperate.
To us, this STINKS!  More to come!

There is NO mention of any animals in the Calaveras Zoning code for R1. Barr's reasoning is that if there is no allowance for horses specifically there is no horses allowed. BUT the code does not even mention dogs and cats....are they not allowed? Once again the county allows something to happen until it simply feels like stopping it.
