Cal Fire on Campfire Safety

Don't let this happen to our forests.
Be careful with fire.

   CalFire is warning all those who plan to camp this 4th of July weekend that they will need a campfire permit, and to make sure they have a five-foot clearance around their campfires.

    This is hard to understand, since to burn debris you must create a 20 foot clearance. Are campers considered less of a risk to the forest than residents?

   The weather is expected to be cooler than usual throughout the weekend, which they hope will keep the fire danger lower.
