Stockton Files for Bankruptcy

Calaveras County Could Be Next?
At least one member of the public reminded the Board of Supervisors at yesterday's meeting, June 26, 2012, that they could be next,
and one showed the headlines of a newspaper announcing that Stockton is filing for bankruptcy.
We actually found an excellent quote from Ricky Gill, who is running for the Congressional seat in that District. He said, "Stockton's impending  bankruptcy is a local issue, but it carries lessons that should resonate clearly in Washington.
When politicians refuse to exercise leadership and foresight, ordinary citizens suffer the consequences. Stockton's troubles out to remind us of the pressing need to elect leaders focused on preserving America's greatness for future generations."
The Sentinel feels this is a great quote for a very young man to make.  One member of the public yesterday warned the Board of Supervisors that bankruptcy could happen to Calaveras County, too. recordnet.com stockton record
