Joseph "Joe" Brown of Valley Springs

     Joseph "Joe" Brown was born February 21, 1924 and passed away on June 19, 2012 at the age of 88.
      Joe was one of four children born to George Laurence and Bertha "Allison" Brown in Port Allegany, Pennsylania. He grew up in Potter County, Pennsylvania, living with his family until 1943.

     He enlisted in the US Army in 1943, where he proudly served his country in the 44th Division, 114th Infantry in Europe during WWII.
     Prior to leaving for the war, he married the love of his life Kathryn (Chastain) on May 11, 1944. In 1958 Joe and Kathryn left their home in Pennsyvania along with their three children Ted, Karen and Diane for the "Great California Adventure", making their home in Sunnyvale where they raised their family.
     Joe worked as an automotive mechanic for 33 + years, retiring in 1983 when he built their dream home in Valley Springs.
     Joe loved sports and in particular baseball and golf, which he enjoyed either playing or watching for many years.
     He loved to socialize and always had great stories to tell. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church. He volunteered often and was always ready to help whenever he could.
     He will be missed but not forgotten by his family and many loving friends.
     Joe was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter (Karen) and granddaughter (Rochelle).
     Joe leaves his beloved wife Kathryn of 68 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, survived by his loving children; Ted (Elaine) Brown and Diane (Bob) Walker, 4 grandchildren (MIchelle, Stacey, Cindy and Kristin), 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
     You are invited to attend Joe's "Celebration of Life" at the Good Samaritan community Covenant Church at 3684 Baldwin Street in Valley Springs on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 1 PM.
     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: The Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church, The American Legion –Bill Brinlee Post 102 or the VFW Post 2600.
    Interment will be private at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson.
