Councilman Behiel Will be Missed

Angels Camp City Council is losing one Councilman who has worked hard for the people, and that is Scott Behiel. But the City will be "Standing Tall" as far as Michael McHatten is concerned.
Even at the most recent City Council meeting, he fought against City Administrator Michael McHatten and  Building Inspector Steve Flaigg, to make the number of days a person has to start working on a Permit to build.

They wanted the time to be 120 days so that they could then charge another 50% of the original fee yet again just  to continue the project. And McHatten said he "Stands Tall" on that.

The County has a 180 day time limit to begin. McHatten and Flaigg argued to keep it at 120 days, and Councilperson Neuman said that he believes those projects that start late are generally less in quality than those that start within 120 days. That is one of the most ridiculous statements we have ever heard.

Fortunately, the other four Councilpersons all agreed with Councilperson Behiel and they voted to change it to 180 days.

After the vote, McHatten and City Counsel Matranga exchanged whispers. It seems that McHatten does not like his laws or codes changed.

Are we getting into another MILITARISTIC running of the City by one, instead of the entire City Council.  That is scary!

McHatten did nothing about the magic business in a big tent that set up two weeks ago called "Minutemen's Survival Supply Store" in a big banner on the Hwy. But he's actively pursuing unfair punishments for honorable business people and contractors with ridicuous rules.
