Theodore Effken


Ted died  Tuesday October 9, 2012 at Mark Twain Convalescent in San Andreas with his family by his side. He was 81.
 
He was born November 9, 1930 near Cook, Nebraska.
He is survived by his first wife Madeliene and second wife Geraldine, his brother John Effken (Evelyn) of Cook, Nebraska, His children Christina Effken of Murphys, CA and his son Paul (Karen) Effken of Fremont, CA and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother Bill Effken.
 
He attended Nebraska State College and then entered the Air Force from 1952 to 1955. Upon leaving the Air Force he became an Air Traffic Controller and Computer Programmer for the FAA. He got his degree from University of New Mexico while working. He retired after 30 years in 1985. He then worked for 16 years for Hughes Raytheon as a Air Traffic Automation designer/programmer retiring in 2001.
 
Through the years he lived in England, New Mexico, Hawaii, Annapolis, MD, Albuquerque, Nm and Fremont, CA He Lived in Angels Camp for the past 11 years.
 
He enjoyed international travel with his jobs. He loved taking road trips with his grandchildren. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed watching sports. He was an active member of AA Fellowship.
 
Special thanks to the staff of San Andreas Convalescent Hospital. Their kindness and great care was greatly appreciated.
 
Services will be held Saturday October 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Angels Memorial Chapel, in Angels Camp.
