OP-ED...Calaveras Supervisors want citizens views on Block Grants?

This is the first time that we have heard that the Welfare Department  wants the public to give input at the  Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, April 9, 2013??

We don't think a $100,000 study is necessary to tell us that the Native American population needs assistance. And the General Fund is putting up $5000 matching?  If the money is going to build a casino, we're in favor of it!

These grants are all gimmicks to get OUR tax money from the government, in our opinion. Some are good and some are bad ideas.

Go and give the Board your honest opinions. They always line up ahead of time who they want to come and make comments of how wonderful they are and how these grants don't cost the taxpayers anything.

Did you see the one for $279,000 for the Food Bank and one for Job Training for $186,000 and what about the $41,000 for administration? That's a lot of food for one thing.
