Prescribed Fire in Stanislaus National Forest

There are two planned prescribed burn locations in the Stanislaus.  The first location is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles north/northwest of White Pines, along Summit Level Road and between forest Roads 5N56 and 5N52, at a specific geographic location of  T5N, R15E, Section 30.

Smoke may be visible from Hwy 4,  with some down canyon smoke visible in the evening and early morning.

Ignition of the prescribed burns is planned to start April 24, 2013.  A total of 5-7 days of hand ignitions is expected.

Depending on burn window availability, implementation could continue into the end of May.

Burning is contingent on weather, fuel moisture, air quality, and resource availability.  All burning is monitored and conducted in accordance with state and county air quality guidelines.

Burning is also closely coordinated with local county air quality control districts.

A total of 308 acres are to be treated using low-intensity prescribed fire, with planned ignition on approximately 50-100 acres per day.

Size of burn may vary with weather and fuel moisture, as well as permissible air quality burn days.

Smoke may be visible from the town of Arnold and other areas along the Hwy 4 corridor.  This project is a planned prescribed fire.

Please do not report as a wildland fire.
