Monday, May 6 and Tuesday May 7, 2013, the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California
Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) will be conducting crew readiness drills for the 2013 fire season.
Acting Unit chief Steve Lawshe explained "These readiness drills will complete the certification process the inmates have been working toward during the winter months.
Crews will participate in 5 stations to evaluate their preparedness for the upcoming fire season."
the drills will start each day at 8 AM and end at 5 PM. The drill location is Fowler Peak Lookout, which is located off of Stallion Way and Hwy 4 near Angels Camp.
Local residents will experience an increase in traffic in the area for the two day event.
