California Voter Registration Changes--Republicans lose

As of February 2013, the share of California Voters who say they are registered as independent
(also known as "decline to state" or "no party preference" is 20.9%.

Registered Democrats is 43.9%, about the same as it was in 2003. Registered Republicans has declined from 35.2% in 2003 to 28.9% in 2013.

In spite of the fact that the registered population of voters has grown by 2.9 million, Republicans have lost at least 100,000 in the past 10 years

Since California has alternated parties in the Governor's seat since 1953, some are looking for a fresh, libertarian face, like Neel Kashkari to possibly run in 2018.

His problem is he lived in Nevada County after working for Bush, until a divorce. Now he lives in Orange County with his dogs Winslow and Newsome.
