Traffic Accident caused by phone

On August 26, 2013 at 7:34 AM, Jacob Plummer (20) of Sacramento was driving his 2012 Nissan Rouge north on Little John Rd in Copperopolis at 60 MPH.

Plummer's phone rang, according to the CHP report and he diverted his attention from his driving to his hands free phone.

While he was distracted, he allowed his vehicle to drift to the right and off of the roadway edge.

Plummer noticed that his vehicle had left the roadway and he swerved back to the left, lost control of the Nissan and it left the roadway.

Plummer attempted to, but was unable to regain control and his vehicle overturned multiple times, coming to rest on the top of a fence west of the roadway.

Plummer sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center.
