Facts About the Rim Fire

    August 30, 2013:  Michelle Puckett of the BLM has collected some facts about the Rim Fire that we will share:

   The uncontrolled fire edge as of last night is 106 miles, completed containment line 56-6 miles, and completed dozer line in 86.9 miles.

   Porportion of the fire burning in the Stanislaus National Forest is 75.6 %, proportion burning in Yosemite National Park is 22.8.%, proportion burning on state and private property is 1.6%.

     The size of the fire is larger that the cities of San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose combined.

    Total hours of aviation time so far is 14,200. 1.34 million gallons of water dropped and 1.5 million gallons of fire retardant dropped.

   Meals served:13, 246 breakfasts and 13, 892 dinners.

    800 burned or damaged guard rail posts on Hwy 120 to be replaced or repaired, 128 power poles to be replaced by PG&E and 7000 burned trees to be .removed adjacent to power lines.
