August 24, 2013: The Deer Fire, which was reported around 2:15PM yesterday is now 1715 acres and is 15% contained.
The cause is under investigation. It is located, according to CalFire, in rugged terrain in brush and grass. There is very limited access for ground resources into the fire area.
The fire is burning in a small portion of the Ishi Wilderness, with a threat to 599KV power lines located in the fire area.
