Rim Fire moved to Southeast Blue Team Command

August 23, 2013:  As of 6 AM this morning, the Southeast Blue Team assumed command of the Rim Fire in Tuolumne County.

This could be due to the fact that the fire is now in Yosemite National Park.  Also, a community meeting is scheduled with residents of Groveland at the Tenaya School on Hwy 120 there at 7 PM.

The fire management team is expected to update the residents at that time.

I was an employee of the USFS for many years, now retired. You are right about the mentality of letting fires burn as was written earlier.
But there is more, much more. Politics in upper level management and MONEY. If they let a fire burn and then have to call for special help they can claim they need more money next year Get it?
