August 14, 2013: This morning on CNBC's Squawk Box Rick Santelli, a veteran trader and Tea Party conservative lashed out at liberal Steve Liesman for promoting the government statistics and saying that there is no inflation. Joe Kiernan, who usually quiets them down, was on vacation, so it went on for several minutes.
Liesman stated that minus food and energy, there is no sign of inflation, and Santelli let him have it with both barrels, saying "minus food and energy? How can you deduct food and energy?"
As anyone who follows the CNBC morning show knows, Liesman and Santelli have had many angry battles since the crash in 2007.
Santelli is credited with starting the Tea Party with his rant about housing and the government's falsely propping things up. All of the traders sitting near him cheer for him when he speaks.
