John "Bill" Samples of Valley Springs

  
John "Bill" Samples of Valley Springs, passed away on January 30, 2014 in San Andreas of heart failure and dimentia. He was 89.

   He was born on September 23, 1923, and was native of Dialville, Texas. His parents were William Samples and Cora Durrett.

     He moved to California in 1936, served in the Navy for 4 years at Treasure Island and went to college at night. He married his wife Julia and settled in Richmond.

   He was a receiving clerk with a printing plant in Oakland and he and Julia spent a lot of time square dancing.    They moved to Valley Springs in 1994.   

   Bill was predeceased by his wife Julia, his son Wayne and daughter Linda.

   He is survived by his sister Sally Taylor of Reno, Nevada, niece Cora Sue Miller of  Santa Rosa, nephews Richard Ray Oden of Fresno and James Barry Oden of San Angelo, Texas, and niece Judy Reinke of Clovis.

   No services will be held.  Private Interment will be at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond.

   The family wishes to thank the staff at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital.  San Andreas Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
