On January 14, 2017 at an undetermined time in the early morning, according to CHP Jarod Latina (27) of Angels Camp was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound on Poole Station Road north of Hwy 4.
For an undetermined reason, Latina turned his vehicle to the left causing it to travel off the west side of the roadway.
His vehicle overturned and collided with a tree. For an undetermined reason, Latina was located outside his vehicle and had succumbed to his injuries.
The collision is still under investigation. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol are a factor in this collision.
We reported this collision initially on the 14th and wondered why so many officers were involved for so long. We did not see the fatality listed on the CHP website.
