Big Rig Traffic Accident- Fatality in Manteca

  UPDATE:  August 13, 2013:  We are told that there were actually 6 vehicles involved in this fatal traffic accident yesterday.

  UPDATE:  At 6:35 PM the roads were all reopened to normal traffic and the big rig tow
truck is following the semi back to the tow yard.

     UPDATE at 5:45 PM:  Tow trucks are now accessing the vehicles that had been beneath the semi. The big rig is drivable and it has moved off the road.


UPDATE at 4:38 PM:  Big rig tow requested. CHP trying to locate persons taken from a green pickup from scene. Hwy's still totally blocked.

   UPDATE at 3:38 PM: Major injury traffic collision has traffic backed up both directions on 120 and unknown how long before it can be cleared.
Traffic is backed up on I-5 and 99. Caltrans asked to start sigalert on freeways. The Coroner  has been called out to the scene.

August 12, 2013:  A big rig and several cars collided on Hwy 120 East and South Main Street in
Manteca at 3:15 PM.

   Reportedly 2 vehicles are pinned under the semi. 4 CHP units are en route to the scene. Two lanes are blocked.

    There is likely one fatality known at this time and 5 other known injuries. An ambulance is on its way to that location.
