Calaveras Unified School District totally political? Edson and Wright get involved!

Over the past few month, especially since Greg Gustafson was elected as a trustee on the Calaveras Unified School Board, there has been tension--political tension!
Two Calaveras Supervisors attended their last meeting and spoke, saying they were not speaking as Supervisors.  But they are!

After listening to the taped of the meeting; they do not video their meetings, I heard what sounded like political setups on both the liberal and the conservative sides.

There are basically three who appear to be anti-school board ranters; Greg Gustafson, who was asked to resign his position, Alan Lujan, who lost the last election to Sherri Reusche and Darrren Spellman who is close friends with the Lujans, the Gustafsons and the Mosts (Spellman supporters and in-laws of Lujan).

Complain, complain, complain about everything! And then other Board members bring up the "Civility"  policy. This policy means that all liberals can say or do anything they want, but the other side is "UNCIVIL" if they do the same.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing and in fact, we can see good points on each side, but this board has made everything political and that's not good.

When a member of the public demanded to know what was going on, she was told they would tell her privately, later.

And so this board meeting went; you could feel the hatred for Mr. Gustafson with every word spoken. At the end he claims he has been bullied for months now.

On the flip side, Gustafson and his friends Lujan and Spellman have been negative about everything the board does, voting against the new Theater Arts Building, among others.

Whether the Board likes it or not, a school board is political and everyone involved becomes a POLI-TIC at times.

Edson, during BOS "speak", expressed his concerns regarding the elimination of the after school programs. He has no direct power over the school board, does he?
If he announced himself as "supervisor Edson", that would change the political dynamics. Same for Spellman and Wright.
If only two bos members attended, no quorum issues involved. If Spellman was present? Was he present?
Thanks for the report.

I sure understand why they don't want to video their meetings. Spellman has been badmouthing CUSD ever since he was removed from the job there. But why are Edson and Wright getting involved? Typical Calaveras County. Dirty politics everywhere!

All I know is that Gustafson is till mad at Campbell for not giving him jobs he bid and that Lujan was mad because they let his wife go. Then Lujan lost to Reusche and his pal Spellman owed favors, so he's been insulting Reusche for months.
