Driver falls asleep in San Andreas collision

According to CHP on November 19, 2013 at around 2:50 PM Jonathan Nuno (19) of Turlock was driving a 2006 Ford F-250 northbound on Hwy 49 at 56 MPH when he claims he fell asleep.

As the pickup approached a slight left hand curve in the roadway Nuno failed to negotiate the curve and the pickup left the roadway, traveling onto the dirt shoulder on the eastbound side of Hwy 49.

The right side of the pickup then collided with a tree and a barbed wire fence prior to coming to rest.

Nuno was able to steer the pickup to a flat spot along the shoulder and wait for emergency personnel.

The passenger, Dylan Fredenburg (22) also of Turlock, sustained moderate injuries to his face and head and was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.

CHP says that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this collision.
