Twenty-three Fires Ignited Along Hwy 96 in Klamath National Forest

      UPDATE: As of Sunday August 5, 2012, the Dillon Fire is 80% contained.

    UPDATE:  On the morning of August 4, 2012, we learned that at last count 23 fires had been ignited along Hwy 96 over a 20 mile stretch. 
   This is about 15 miles southwest of Happy Camp.The Dillon Creek Campground was evacuated, and Hwy 96 was closed to traffic. 230 acres have burned at last report.  Containment is 10%.

   The cause of the fires has now been officially designated as human. They have not yet used the term arson.

        Only 10 minutes ago, around noon on August 3, 2012, another fire was reported in California; this time in the Klamath National Forest, Siskiyou County.

   This is along Hwy 96, near the Dillon Creek Campground. CalFire is assisting the National Forest Service, along with local Fire Departments in that area.

   We will keep you updated as we get information.
