Accident on Hwy 26

  CHP released information about a traffic accident that occurred on Saturday, August 10, 2013 on Hwy 26 near Olive Orchard in Valley Springs.

    Danny Geul (51) of Fremont was traveling eastbound on Hwy 26 in a 2003 Ford Pickup just east of Olive Orchard Road when he started to negotiate a left hand curve.

   Mr Geul's vehicle drifted right and off the road. When Mr. Geul turned to get his vehicle back on the road he over-corrected to the left, causing his vehicle to spin out of control.

   Mr. Geul traveled off the north side of the road where he hit a fence and overturned.

    Mr. Geul was transported to Doctor's Medical Center for moderate injuries.  His passenger, Phong Thu  Quach (51) of Hayward, was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with moderate injuries.

    CHP believes that alcohol consumption may have contributed to the collision and Mr. Geul may face criminal charges for driving under the influence.
