Fire in Tahoe National Forest

   August 12, 2013:  The American Fire, which is burning in a heavily forested area northeast of Foresthill in the Tahoe National Forest is around 800 acres.

     The fire crossed the North Fork of the American River and is burning in steep terrain on ridges difficult to access.

   Air tankers, which are refilling in Sacramento, helicopters and CalFire are all on scene during daylight hours. Currently containment is 0%.
