Was the Sheriff's Department There to "Help" Pierce?

Is this an example of a forced
"welfare check"?
A lot of things go through your mind when you read a long diatribe calling a 59 year old man in Valley Springs "Suspect" Pierce" nearly 25 times.
At the end of the story it said that the cause of the "violence" of Mr. Pierce was unknown. Well, we could think of a few things.
Like why were they there in the first place?  Did he call for help? What is a "welfare check" and who authorizes such things?
Was the man in his own home and you invaded his space?  Did he have need of a cane in order to walk well?   Why did you have to try and convince me that he was a "suspect" by repeating it over and over again throughout the report?

Will he ever get over your "tasing" him?
To tell the truth, I would feel myself getting angry with cops ordering me around in my own home and then saying they were there to "help" me.  We are going to contact Mr. Pierce if possible and get his side of the story. We will let you know what we find.
A "welfare check" against the man's will?
