According to a CHP report on July 12, 2017 around 3:10 PM Matthew Giles (35) of Stockton was driving a 2006 Ford F150 on Hwy 12 west of Southworth Road in the Burson area at an unknown rate of speed while intoxicated.

Richard Lokey (43) of Altaville was driving a 1999 Peterbilt   westbound on Hwy 12 west of Southworth Road at an unknown speed.

Due to Giles alleged level of intoxication, he failed to maintain a direct course of travel and allowed the pickup to leave the roadway.

The pickup traveled out of control and into the path of the Peterbilt. As a result, the Peterbilt collided with the pickup.

After the collision Giles was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital with moderate injuries and was charged with allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
