Is Calaveras Sheriff Corrupt?

For quite some time the Sierra Sentinel has been very concerned about what is or is not going on at the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office.

Previously we had believed it was simply deriliction of duty on the Sheriff's part, especially after this paper reported a death threat and the Sheriff had evidence of who it was on his personal computer at home.

He failed to turn the evidence over to the District Attorney, according to the DA.

Now a resident of Copperopolis comes before the  Board of Supervisors on March 12, 2013 to complain that the Sheriff was investigating a letter his wife wrote to a small website in Copperopolis as if they were criminals.

This is corruption, pure and simple. A death threat the Sheriff does NOTHING about, but a lietter against an illegal gun range he editor's son was apparently involved with, he has plenty of time to waste on.

We want a thorough investigation by the Grand Jury of the Sheriff's Department for the corruption we have seen going on in the past 2 years.

Apparently the man who spoke now owns the home that the editor of that website lost to foreclosure and may have some bad feelings.

The Sheriff needs to go!!  This corruption has to stop. He does not investigate the death threats or arrest the person he had personal knowledge of, but he does investigate a ridiculous claim from a person who is now seen to be encouraging some type of gun range in Copperopolis.

Who will run for Sheriff against Gary Kuntz?   Something has to be done!!!  Everything the Sheriff does seem to depend on which of his Tea Party gun friends is involved, and it has to stop!!.
