UPDATE: At 2:10 PM CHP reponed Hwy 49 to regular traffic. One victim was transported to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries. Another was transported to Mark Twain Hospital.
UPDATE: At 1:50 PM Hwy 49 is reopened to one-way directed traffic.
UPDATE: At 1:35 CHP reported that Hwy 49 should be re-opened for one-way traffic in 15-20 minutes.
UPDATE: 1:10 PM We just learned that this was a head-on collision,
closing Hwy 49 until they notify us it is reopen. An SUV is overturned 30' down the side of the road and a Lexus has front end damage.
CHP is requesting CalTrans, as traffic is backed up for a mile or more.
At 1 PM a traffic accident was reported to CHP at Hwy 49 and Cosgrove Rd in Angels Camp. It is unknown at this time if there are injuries.
Four CHP, fire and an ambulance have been dispatched to the scene. Stay clear of the area while emergency vehicles are working, please.
