Letter to the Editor....About Supervisor Spellman

    Dear Editor:

I amust admit that when I first read here in the Sierra Sentinel that you were not happy with Supervisor Spellman's behavior, I wondered what you were talking about.

I didn't get to go to the last Board of Supervisor meeting, but I watched the Part 2 tape on the Cap website to see the Castle and Cooke debate.

At the end, when they were doing their usual correspondence, Spellman made the statment that he has been extremely busy in the two weeks since they met.

He began rattling off the sledding trip with his daughter to White Pines (I believe that is District 3). Then he mentioned eating at McDonald's in Angels Camp (The City of Angels).

Then he mentioned attending a Valley Springs News open house, which he said was in Cliff Edson, District 1.

He also said he went to Stockton to meet the new mayor there and another gentleman he didn't know how to pronounce the name, along with a CHP meeting in District 1 where he spoke with Tom Berryhill.

Not one time did I hear him mention what he had done in District 5, which is his District. Oh, i forgot, he did say he attended his sons cub scout function, I believe in San Andreas.

What I see here is a pattern of wanting to make himself look important (and perhaps trying to get a job with another elected official), but not going door to door to see what his voters in District 5 need.

Therefore, I have to agree with you, that he has way too much personal time off, at the taxpayers expense.

Tired of a useless Supervisor in District 5
