Most businesspeople tend to stay out of politics in Calaveras County. When they don't they tend to ostracize half of the public (their customers).
In this light, we were surprised to see Mike Fullaway come before the Board of Supervisors representive Calaveras Lumber, praising Dave Haley and Castle and Cooke and asking the Supervisors to vote in favor of continuing the project.
Was this because he was promised all the lumber sales if it passed? Would Fullaway go public with pro-development without a guarantee of benefit for his company?
Very surprising. It didn't work. The project was denied without prejudice on the basis of planning law 5-0.
