Timber falling fatality in Tuolumne County

    Per a press release, on May 29, 2014 at 8 AM the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office received a call of a logging accident near Cottonwood Road and Forest Road 1N84.

   Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department deputies, Tuolumne County Fire, Tuolumne County Ambulance PHI Air Ambulance and US Forest Service members all responded to the scene.

    The victim, 48 year old Chris Tomasovich of Sonora, was falling timber for a private contractor in the Rim Fire burn area.

   Mr. Tomasovich was struck by part of a falling tree and received fatal injuries.  He was declared deceased by medical personnel on scene.

   The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office Coroners Division will be conducting a death investigation. California Occupational Health and Safety Administration (CAL/OSHA) will be conducting an industrial accident investigation. Both investigations are currently ongoing.
