Butte Fire UPDATE: Containment only 10 % per Cal Fire

The most recent data from Cal Fire is staggering; we received these new figures around 11:30 PM.

As of  this evening September 10, 2015 the total acres burned is 14,700 (more than triple in 24 hours) and containment is down to 10%.

   1500 structures
are currently threatened, with 8 residences destroyed. All day long we heard requests for more help, air support, firefighters; that they did not have enough resources.

"Fire behavior remained extreme throughout the day with rapid, uncontrolled fire growth.  Suppression efforts had minimal impacts due to a high focus on structure defense.

Mandatory evacuations are in place and expanded throughout the day as the fire perimeter grew.

Evacuation warnings have been issued for additional threatened areas.  More evacuations are anticipated as the fire behavior continues to impact additional areas.

Continued hot and dry weather conditions will also limit nighttime recovery."
