We have have had hundreds of people tell us that they have family members now missing, from the burn area of Calaveras County's Butte Fire.
When the Calaveras Sheriff's Office set up a SEPARATE number to report the missing, some of them called that number, only to be AGAIN, rejected by Sheriff Kuntz.
Apparently, according to a new Press Release from Brian Moss at Calaveras County, you have to know your family members are MISSING INSIDE the BUTTE FIRE burn area to be allowed to report them missing at the Sheriff's new number.
They call it a "Welfare Check" for anything else. Someone in Calaveras County must have a screw loose to care so little about the families of the "missing", whether they escaped from the fire or not.
