As of September 20, 2015 at 7:50 AM, the Butte Fire is listed with 70,760 acres and containment at 70%. Good news.
The bad news is that more and more homes are added each day to the total losses in this fire. While the county refuses to tell us the total in Calaveras (for our own good, they say), the new total for the Butte Fire overall is now 535 homes, 347 outbuildings and 41 other structures destroyed.

Yeah, one of the other things they did for our OWN GOOD, was to force us to evacuate, saying the entire fire fight will be for STRUCTURE Protection, and that was a crock too. I'd rather stay and at least try to fight for my home and maybe die, than leave and know its going up.
don't blame the firefighters. decisions are made at the county and upper management about fires; the guys on the line just do their job.
