Calaveras County's Butte fire victims feeling "jerked around"?

In the past 24 hours, the press in the Butte Fire area has received all kinds of press releases trying to get people to call a wide variety of phone numbers, not one of them who could actually answer their questions or help them.

A CENTRAL number of 209-754-6500, for help which is on the Calaveras Sheriff website of the Office of Emergency Services is NOT apparently helping people.

When we heard complaints we published two other numbers the Calaveras Sheriff has given us, 209-754-6552 and a cell number of 209-256-6184.

At that time, we were certain that Sheriff Kuntz, head of the Calaveras Office of Emergency Services wanted to help; wanted to keep his pledge during his re-election last year, to keep all county residents safe. Apparently, we were very mistaken.

The Calaveras Sheriff, who claims to be the HEAD of the Officer of Emergency Management in Calaveras County (209-754-6500) now says he is way to busy to help these poor people; some of them displaced and others who lost everything in the Butte Fire.

So when we got yet another Press Release from Calaveras County we called to check on exactly what type of help victims would receive.  Naturally, they didn't know.  They stated they may know by this afternoon.

I asked them to please send out a new press release at the time they DO know, so I can inform residents. They are feeling "JERKED AROUND" by Calaveras County in their time of need.

Think they are? They are being jerked around. From Supervisor Edson, who hasn't a clue, to Sheriff Kuntz, who I heard is hanging out at his favoirt watering hole, to NO ONe knowing what is going on.
