CHP report on fatal motorcycle collision on Hwy 49

According to the CHP report, on September 6, 2015 around 11:15 AM Harold Choate (63) of Madera was riding a 2003 Victory motorcycle on Hwy 49 northbound approaching Gun Club Road at approximately 20-25 MPH.

Michelle Price (73) of San Andreas was driving a 2009 Honda Civic and was stopped southbound on Hwy 49 at Gun Club Road.

After 3-4 seconds, waiting to turn left onto Gun Club Road, Price began to accelerate and turn left onto Gun Club Road and directly into the path of the motorcycle's path of travel.

The motorcycle (Choate) was forced to lay the motorcycle down in order to avoid a collision with the Honda Civic (Price).

When the motorcycle collided with the ground, Choate was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest on the asphalt.   Price steered the Honda to the shoulder and stopped.

Choate was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center and then Fresno Community Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Alcohol/drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision, which is still under investigation.
