At 5:05 PM on Sunday August 12, 2012, CHP received a call that an accident had occurred involving a motorcycle at Bane Rd and Cox Drive in Valley Springs. Cal Fire was also called out.
. According to CHP, Adam Charles Hosford, 36, of Valley Springs,
was travelling on his 1983 Honda motorcycle headed west on Bane Drive, near Cox Drive at a speed greater than 45 MPH.
Mr. Hosford was not wearing a helmet. For unknown reasons he made an unsafe turning movement to the right which caused him to leave the pavement and enter the shoulder.
When the motorcycle left the roadway it appears Mr. Hosford lost control and although he re-entered the roadway, he never regained control.
The motorcycle continued towards the intersection of Bane Drive and Cox Drive, and consequently, according to the report, collided with a dirt embankment on the shoulder. Mr. Hosford was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries from the collision.
