Butte Fire now in Calaveras County/Moke Hill burning

UPDATE at 8:30 PM:  Acreage now burned is 1000 acres and growing. Another road closure has been issued at Jesus Maria Road off Hwy 26. The fire line currently being held in at Hwy 26 and the Robinson Ranch.

UPDATE at 7:50 PM:  A caller reported smoke on Hwy 4 at the Red Apple and Darby Road. They found no fire, just drift smoke in the area.

UPDATE at 7:30 PM: There is more than one spot,
several acres involved across Hwy 26. While one Captain was begging for more assistance, he had to watch a house burn

Some private dozers are being used in the Moke Hill area. 14 have been ordered.

The Butte Fire was being managed by the Amador County Cal Fire District. It jumped the Calaveras River and started a B-line for Mokelumne Hill, where it is now. Homes have already gone
up in flames at Montgomery Road and Candy Circle.

Additional resources have been requested from other areas to try and stop this fire. We aren't sure what the acreage is now. It was estimated around 500 acres earlier. Stay out of the area. Hwy 26 is closed at Moke Hill Elementary School.

We just heard that it jumped Hwy 26 and is about an acre in size across the Hwy. A crew has been assigned to stop it. Hopefully they can.
