September 11, 2015 at 4 AM: Cal Fire is now setting up for fire defense on Mountain Ranch Road. The Butte Fire is not there yet, but we heard on the scanner that it is expected within hours.
Power lines are being de-energized on Mountain Ranch Road, from San Andreas on up.
One oak tree, if left standing alone, can put off thousands of burning embers, which can float on the wind for over a mile and land on a new area, starting another spot fire.
Of course, if Mr. Cliff Edson has his choice, there will be NO oak trees because they are way too dangerous. Good job, Mr. Edson.
Sorry to get political at this point, but everything is political, and especially fires. Poor management ability in our elected officials, inability to make clear, intelligent decisions, and influence by logging company giants for free or near free wood, affects our lives everyday.
