Many of our readers were asking who was actually in charge; at the top of the management team of the Butte Fire, since its located in both Amador and Calaveras counties.
The fire started in the City of Jackson, Amador County and so the administrative unit is Amador/ El Dorado Cal Fire.
However, Daniel Berlant, PIO for Cal Fire in Sacramento tells us that the Tuolumne/Calaveras District Chief Josh White, who is stationed in San Andreas, is our representative on the Cal Fire Incident Management Team for the Butte Fire.
Berlant assures us, that as destructive as this fire has been, (80 homes lost so far) that Chief White, along with the Amador-El Dorado district, are well engaged with the Incident Management Team.

Oh yes, many of us in both counties are questioning upper management in charge, but we don't question the devotion of our firefighters on the lines.
I do, and my husband too, believe bad decisions wer made when the fire was still in Amador county.
