Three suffer major injuries in head-on collision

On August 26, 2017 around 2:25 PM Donald Burns (61) of Arnold was driving a 2013 Ford Escape eastbound on Hwy 4 near Forest Meadows at approximately 45-50 MPH.

Ruth Barber (65) of Cerritos was driving a 2013 Subaru Outback westbound at approximately 45-50 MPH.

Burns clams that he fell asleep, crossed over the solid double yellow lines into the opposing lane of traffic directly in front of the Subaru.

Both vehicles collided left front to left front.  The  Ford came to rest straddling the east and westbound lanes of Hwy 4 facing a westerly direction.  The Subaru came to rest on the north shoulder facing a southerly direction.

All three parties sustained major injuries as a result of this collision and were airlifted to Modesto hospitals.  Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
