On August 25, 2017 per CHP, Taber Bailer (41) of Sonora was driving a 1995 Ford eastbound on Hwy 4 east of Bonanza Mine Way near Copperopolis, at approximately 50 MPH.

Due to his unsafe speed, Mr. Bailey lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve in the roadway.  The vehicle began to fishtail and then traveled across all lanes and collided with a metal reflector post and then rolled over.

Heather West (43), a passenger in the Ford, of Sonora was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center with major injuries. Bailey was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries.

Drugs and or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in this collision.
