Dear Sierra Sentinel:
Hooray for President Obama! This is a President I can respect. It's past time that we stopped hating minorities and addressed the immigration problems in America. Besides, whether you like it or not, they will not be minorities for long. We whites will.
How quickly discriminating conservatives forget that when their families came to this country, that they were not treated like criminals by the government. In fact, the government and business welcomed them.
The farming industry has welcomed the Hispanic population into the country for many decades because they work hard and are willing to do the work a lot of Americans won't do. Now that they are being educated and moving up in economic status, these conservatives are getting nervous. Ignorant racists!
This is just a first step, Mr. President, allowing the youth who were brought to this country as youngsters to live here without constant fear.
At least that first step has been taken and I, for one, thank you!
