CHP reports on Calaveras Bus Crash

March l8, 2014:  According to the CHP report Timothy Lupkes (55) of Rancho Cordova was traveling westbound on Hwy 12 from Toyon Hill in a 2014 Peterbilt Tanker truck,
approaching Toyon Hill.

Lupkes was proceeding downhill and into a sweeping right curve. Siobnhan Fisher (48) of Mokelumne Hill was driving a Calaveras Unified School bus downhill in the opposite direction and into a sweeping left curve.

It is unknown at this time which vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines.  However, in doing so, both vehicles sides swiped each other.

This caused the school bus to swerve to her right, causing her right side tires to travel onto the shoulder.

The weight of the school bus on the shoulder sucked the school bus's tires into the dirt/rocks and carried the bus down the embankment where it overturned onto its right side.

Video recordings are being reviewed at this time to determine which party was at fault for this collision.  The roadway was closed for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and is now re-opened.

Fisher was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries. The truck driver reported no injuries.
