   Apparently the teachers union and Calaveras Unified School District were unable to come to any temporary settlement in their contract dispute last night.

  As of October 19, 2017 Mark Campbell, District Superintendent has closed all schools. 134 teachers are now on strike.

   October 17, 2017 at 8:30 AM:  Per CalFire a new fire has been reported off Bear Creek Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Los Gatos. It has been named the Bear Fire.

   Reported at around 10:30 PM on October 16, 2017 the fire is now 125 acres and has no containment.  Evacuations are taking place.

Marijuana farm robbed by COPS??? Sheriff denies it was cops!!

   The Calaveras Sheriff's department has reported that 6 men in two vehicles drove into a cannabis farm on Skull Flat Road in West Point and identified themselves as law enforcement, showing Sheriff badges as ID.

   They left with 500 marijuana plants and a large amount of cash. They also took a black pickup. The Calaveras Sheriff is investigating and deny that they were cops!

Woman arrested at RaboBank

   On October 11, 2017 Angels Camp Police arrested Kimberly Johanna Sturgeon (52) of Murphys at 501 South Main Street, which is the RaboBank address.

   Sturgeon was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Threatening with the Intent to Terrorize, a felony and was released on bond.

Fires in Yuba, Nevada and Butte County (Wind Complex Fires)

   The Wind Complex Fire takes in most all of the fires in Butte County and the total acreage burned is around 17, 000 acres with containment around 20%.

   291 homes have been destroyed and there are two known fatalities.

Redwood Fire ( Mendocino/Lake Complex)

   As of October 12, 2017 the Mendocino/Lake Complex Fire is 34, 600 acres and is 5% contained.

   250 homes have been destroyed, and 90 other structures have burned. Evacuations continue in the area of Clearlake and Potter Valley.

Atlas Fire (Southern LNU Complex)

   As of October 12, 2017 the Atlas Fire (Complex) is 77,705 acres with 10% containment.

   191 structures have been destroyed so far. We don't have a count of injured, but hundreds are reported as missing.

Tubbs Fire (Central LNU Complex) update

  As of October 12, 2017 the Tubbs Fire (Complex) in Napa County is 34,270 acres with 10% containment.

   Officially 576 structures have been destroyed, and 13 fatalities are recorded.
