On June 3, 2018 nearly a dozen cops from the Calaveras Sheriff, Angels PD and CHP descended on 550 Hwy 4 in Murphys after a report of a burglary attempt.
Passersby said that it looked like there must have been a murder. It was not. The Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Dustin Lee Harper (40) of Murphys for alleged Attempted Burglary, Attempted Robbery, both felonies, and for Resisting Arrest, Possession of Unlawful Paraphernalia and Being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, misdemeanors.
