Spike strips catch Calaveras deputy in San Andreas

On December 1, 2017 at approximately 11:30 PM the Calaveras Sheriff's Office pursued a BMW with expired plates, which headed east on Hwy 26.

Spike strips were deployed on Hwy 26 near Hwy 49 and the BMW was caught in the spike strips.  The deputy behind him, however, was also flattened by the strips.

CHP was notified, and the car, now sparking on its rims was stopped just across the Amador County line on Hwy 49.

The suspect fled into the brush and although a K-9 was alerted, was not apprehended by either Calaveras or Amador County deputies.
