On March 3, 2014 at approximately 9:20 AM, an officer from the Angels Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a gray Mercury sedan on North Main Street (Hwy 49) in the Mark Twain Shopping Center in Altaville for having suspended registration and the driver not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver was identified as 36 year old Mokelumne Hill resident Joshua Paul Ftacek. He advised the officer that he did not have a valid drivers license and that he may have warrants from the Modesto area.
It was confirmed that Ftacek did not have a valid driver's license and that he had a felony warrant for his arrest from Modesto and a traffic warrant from Merced County.
Subsequent to his arrest, Ftacek's vehicle was searched and the officer located a loaded firearm and approximately 32 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
In addition to the warrants, Ftacek was arrested for charges related to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
