Hwy 49 traffic accident

   CHP has released more information about the traffic accident that occurred on Hwy 49 on February 28, 2014 around 8 AM.

    According to the new report, Dakota Rhyan Argo (18) of Sonora was driving a 1992 BMW on Hwy 49.

   CHP was called to a traffic collision involving this BMW that had driven off the roadway and overturned on Hwy 49 south of Carson Hill.

   They roadway was wet, and although it was not raining at the time of the collision, intermittent rain had been occurring throughout the morning per CHP.

   The driver caused this collision, according to the report, by driving at an unsafe speed for the weather and roadway conditions, namely, attempting to negotiate a curved portion of roadway at 45 to 50 MPH with the roadway surface being wet.

   The driver lost control of his vehicle, spun out of control and traveled down a steep embankment, overturning several times before coming to a rest.

   Both the driver and passenger (Rebecca Lynn Schoon (20) of Sonora were transported to Sonora via ground ambulance for minor injuries.

   The southbound lane was blocked for approximately one and one half hours with one-way traffic control in place while the BMW was towed back up the embankment and removed.
