Assessor's increase gives Calaveras' Oliveira more money to spend

The Calaveras Assessor was pressured by Calaveras Supervisor Oliveira to raise tax assessment on all properties we are told.

It worked. Property assessments are now over $1 million more for county revenue to spend. And spend it they will. It was just announced at the September 12, 2017 Board meeting.

Property taxes are based on recent sales of properties. The California Board of Equalization creates the tax code that assessors follow, not Oliveria. Thank the legal and illegal cannabis growers for the increase in property tax revenue due to their property purchases in Calaveras County.

I wonder if the illegal growers are paying their property tax bill?
